Glipizide belongs to the class sulphonylurea that is an anti-diabetic drug. It is used to treat type-2 diabetes by causing pancreas to produce insulin, and helps the body to use the insulin efficiently. It is not used to treat type-1 diabetes; this only helps the people whose bodies are able to produces insulin naturally.

Glucotrol is used with exercise and healthy diet to treat type-2 diabetes. Controlled high blood pressure may also reduce the future complications like kidney problems, loss of limbs, blurred vision, sexual problems and nerve problems. Proper medications help to prevent the risk of getting stroke or heart attack. This medication can also used with other diabetic medications. Take glucotrol 30 minutes before your first meal or breakfast as directed by the doctor. The dosage will depend upon your conditions and direction of the doctor.

Some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, azoles, and other drugs that are highly protein bound salicylates, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, probenecid, coumarins, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, and beta adrenergic blocking agents when interact with this medication may potentiated the hypoglycemic effects of sulphonylurea.
Thiazides and other diuretics, corticosteroids, phenothiazines, thyroid products, estrogens, oral contraceptives, phenytoin,nicotinic acid, sympathomimetics, calcium channel blocking drugs, and isoniazid. These drugs leads to loss of control, when these medicines are used with glucotrol the patients may closely observed loss of control.
