Obesity is a multiplex disorder involving excessive body fat that have a negative effect on health.
600 million adults and 42 million children under the age of five are suffering from obesity. It occurs most commonly in women than men. It is visible by authorities as a serious health disorder of 21st century. It is getting common in America, American Medical Association characterize it as a disease.
Causes of Obesity
Mainly obesity is caused by excessive food intake, less physical activity, hypothyroidism, medication, genetics and other psychological factors.
Illnesses originated by Obesity
Obesity can develop many serious health issues leading to severity.
Obesity can increase the risk of having stroke as it stops the supply of blood to the arteries and make harder to work. If a clot is close to your brain it can block the oxygen and blood flow to the brain and can form a stroke. Losing weight can reduce the chance of getting stroke.
Cancer including colon, breast, kidney, pancreas, endometrium, liver, gallbladder, and esophagus are linked to obesity.
High Blood Pressure
Obesity can cause the increasing risk of high blood pressure. Blood pressure pushes the blood to the arteries, if the pressure of the blood remains high or constant over time it can cause different damages in the body
Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes is a well known disease in which the blood sugar level is very high, basically body break downs the food into glucose the supplied to the cells of the body, there is a hormone known as insulin that converts glucose into energy. There is a relation between diabetes and obesity, mainly obese experience diabetes. By taking healthy low cholesterol diet, physical activities and losing some weight can reduce the increasing risk of diabetes.
Osteoarthritis is a joint disorder that occurs in hip, back and knee. The cause of the pain mainly is because of the excessive stress on the joints and wears away cartilage due to weight. Extra weight can raise the pain.
Obesity can cause infertility and menstrual problems in women.
Treatment for Obesity
Treatment only deals with dieting and physical exercises, a healthy low fat and low carbohydrate diet can help to reduce obesity which may prevent other health problems to play a harming role. Surgeries for acute obesity are done for long term weight loss.
